Dima Zavodskoy was born on May 29th, 1990, in the city of Grozny, in the then Checho-Ingush Soviet Republic. It was around this time that the then Soviet Union was beginning to crack, the government's influence and control slipping as a result. Many Soviet republics broke away, forming their own independent nations.Unfortunately, as with many post-Soviet states, war was on the horizon. And for the now Ichkerian Republic of Chechnya, this was no different. It wasn't long until the Russian Federation turned its sights on its new neighbors. It was in the Chechen Wars that Dima grew up. Much of his early life was spent witnessing warfare firsthand. He watches as cities around him were reduced to rubble, it's citizens slaughtered or displaced. Amongst them, his mother, when he was at ten. Lost to artillery and rockets, buried beneath what was left of their home.Undoubtedly, Dima was effected by this. But he was not the only one whom the war had changed. His father, Yeruslan, became distant, even cold and hard on his son. Once a religious leader for his community, he had now become a militant warlord, Chechen mujahideen against the invading Russians. By the age of fourteen, Dima was amongst his men.But he was no son. He was just another body. For four years, Dima fought under the abusive leadership of his father. Time and time again, he was sent ought to fight, sent on missions in which Yeruslan was certain he wasn't going to make it back - yet Dima did, every time. It never escaped his attention, either. For years, the resentment, the hate, it built up. And worst of all, the frustration. Not all of it was aimed at his father's however. By 2008, when Dima was eighteen, the realization that they were losing had set in. What more was there to do? Russian occupied their capitol. They barely had any men to fight. So..What else did Dima have to lose at this point? In the middle of a raid, as they were firing upon a Russian position, Dima's trigger finger..Slipped.Yeruslan was killed, bullets sent into the back of his head.Dima was now on the run, as Chechnya was conquered and put under Russian rule. His only family, dead, alongside many of his friends or connections. For once in his life, he truly was all alone. A tragic tale of youth gone wrong, and it had only just begun. All the boy had now was anger and his rifle. Where he was going to go, he did know yet. But he wanted to fight. He wanted to lash out, to rage at the world. He didn't care if it killed him - just as long as the fire inside was stoked once more. The outbreak of the Russo-Georgian War was the perfect opportunity for the misguided youth, where he volunteered in the Georgian militias. Although the fighting was short lived, Dima had proved himself in battle, having taken part in several raids that resulted in unexpected casualties for the Russians. But, regardless of how weel they resisted the invasion, Georgia lost, and Dee was forced to flee once again.Leaving Georgia behind, Dima tried to find peace, turn over the pages and make a new start. But he couldn't. Inside, fires burned, and war drums still beat within his heart. War had consumed him, the bastard child of violence and misery. It didn't take long for the winds to carry word of another fight, another chance for him to quench that ever-present fire.By this time, Urzikstan had been under the iron-fisted rule of Russian general Roman Barkov for nearly a decade. While minor resiatnce had sprung off and on, it wasn't until 2009 that the Urkizstan Liberation Force was formed, after Farah Karim and other POWs escaped their imprisonment. Dima joined their ranks, taking up the name ' Al-Shishani ', or ' The Chechen '. He used his prior experiences and knowledge to help the resistance, including the production of IEDs and anti-armor dug-outs in the mountains. In time, Dima was trusted enough to be given command of his own unit. Primarily made up of Chechen dissidents and former militia fighters, the ' Kavkaz Brigade ' would earn a fierce reputation amongst all militants in the Urzikstan region due to their frighteningly violent tactics and methods. Initially, Dima took pride in striking such awe and fear into the enemy, hoping it would convince others to fight for their freedom, to drive Barkov and his invaders out. In a way, he supposed it was not only in the best interests for Urzikstan, but also to avenge the many he had lost back home, all those years ago. But Dima never expected his fight, his personal war and struggle, would ignite a flame much bigger - and much hotter - than his own. Many wanted the war to be over. Young men all over Urzikstan yearned for peace, for an end to the wanton violence and povery that crept in because of it. And many were willing to do anything to achieve it. The lessons Dima taught, the harsh realties of war and the rhetoric he lectured on about, it dug deep into their hearts and minds. And with certain hands at play, whispers in the dark and behind closed doors, a cancer began to spread. Soon, many found themselves influenced to join ' Al-Qatala-Aljahdid ' by Omar Suleman, who used details and stories of Dima's exploits as an example of the road to ' true ' victory. While Dima tried to denounce Al-Qatala, and his own past actions and violence, it was ultimately too late. Many were too far gone, now keenly an extension of Al-Qatala's sword. As such, Dima was ' officially ' disvowed by the ULF and its allies. However, the truth remained much more muddled and grey. He and the rest of the Kavkaz Brigade did, in fact, continue ground operations in cooperation with some of the ULF against Barkov's forces, inclduing the attack on his chemical factory in Georgia. However, much of his effort was focused on eliminating Al-Qatala as a threat at all cost. From Verdansk to Al-Mazrah, Dima and his men seek to drive out Al-Qatala to their end, matching violence with violence - fire with fire.

Notable Equipement / Gear

Dima is fond of the AK platform, owning a trophied ' Alpha ' AK-103 from some time spent in Syria. His kit, as well as that of other Kavkaz members, also consist of bodyarmor, often stolen from Russian stockpiles or purchased from Western companies via third-party dealers, as well as copies of FAST and MICH helmets. His men also operate, to some degree, a small fleet of light vehicles and technicals. However, their most notable piece of equipment is one Dima himself is very familiar with - IEDs. He set up a system local proudction, using it against AQT assets, as well as Russian. While not the most advanced weapon, it is certainly one of their most useful, as well as most frightening.

Personality

Dima is very much a wildcard at heart. On one hand, he is not above extreme violence if it means achieving his goals. On the other, if you've made a friend out of Dima, you've made a friend for life. His loyalty if unquestionable - if you've truly earned his trust. He has a soft spot for animals of all kinds, though he has a particular soft spot for cats. Because of this, Dima has off-and-on lived an almost vegetarian life. He also refuses to target civilians, especially women and children - he's seen enough innocent death in his life, and it hits rather close to home. That being said, Dima is black and white in regards to what exactly ' innocent ' means. To him, association with the enemy is enough to be a traitor, and thus a target. While not exactly religious, Dima does still hold some of his values and traditions he was taught, such as zakat. He also still travels with his old prayer mat, as well as a scarf once owned by his late mother, in which he wrote the Shahada. Dima also doesn't drink, but does occasionally smoke, mostly with his men.Overall, Dima is someone who would like to see the best in things, yet can't help but have his eyes linger over the bleak shadows. He tries to be optimistic, but more often than not, he finds his expectations are crushed, and hes left to carry the pieces. However, he still has yet to give up hope, and instead finds it both in himself and in others.
